SPN 5.18

I'm seeing all this joy on my flist about the episode...and yeah, it was a good one. But I guess last week finally killed my love for Supernatural, because you know what I noticed?

Evidently the only way they can produce an episode that doesn't make me want to shake the writers till their teeth rattle is to make one without a single woman cast in the entire hour. I guess creating a world without women is a slight improvement on creating one in which your so-called-hero rejoices in killing whores. But somehow I'm not comforted.

So, I guess the wincest is canon now? That should please some people.

And, I'll admit, I actually liked Castiel in this episode. I really did. About time he put his warrior face back on instead of moping around like a wingless dick.

Castiel and his box-cutter though? That made me squee like a little girl, but that's because of my recently finished Jennifer's Body fic...a connection probably apparent only to me 'cause I can't post it yet, but I do like the serendipity :)

Adam - yeah, that was predictable. Nice to get his perspective on the whole Winchester curse, though. Like the zombies ep, where we saw the "normal folks" view of Bobby, it's cool to have the reminder that these people are seriously not mainstream.

Sam...I'm unspoiled for the future eps but I'm assuming at some point he is going to say yes to Lucifer. It's been a heck of a build-up to no purpose if that's not going to happen. After this ep, I'm curious what his motivation will be. It's always been a tough one to call, not helped by the fact that we so rarely get to see his perspective these days. But this ep did okay. About time they had The Talk, but I don't see how that's going to fix things. It seems like too little, too late. And Dean'll change his mind again next time something kicks him in the teeth.

Ah, well. Gotta go to work.
