There were parts of Xena I never saw until I got the complete set on DVD. Hercules is...well, a lot like Xena. Lighter, on average, though Herc's darkest moments arguably beat Xena's. Much of the same supporting cast of course: the various gods and a few regulars were on both shows. If nothing else, you should see both for the parts where the storyline crosses over; especially the Dahok arc.
