Puppy is sick

Amber, our gorgeous border terrier pup (well, not a puppy any more - she's more than a year old now!) is unwell. This makes me miserable. She's all clingy and just wants to be cuddled and won't play with Poppy. And that last is really worrying because Amber and Poppy always play.

This started about a week ago - she's already seen the vet a couple of times and had blood tests. Vet says she has an immune system disorder and she has lots of pills to take. Now, I haven't spoken to said vet myself, so maybe this is a case of Chinese whispers, but the things Sis is claiming he's said don't make a lick of sense to me. To the extent that, if it were a doctor talking about a human illness, I'd be seriously worried about his competence.

Dogs are different, I know that. But shouldn't the same basic principles apply? I mean, dogs are mammals too. Medications should have approximately the same effect, shouldn't they? Sis had me google the name of one of the pills Amber is taking and the only references I could find were about asthma. WTF? That's not what she has. I don't get it.

I hope that what's happening is this: Vet is explaining stuff to sis in seriously dumbed-down terms because he thinks she's stupid (she's not). Sis is then getting muddled and reporting to the rest of us something that sounds like nonsense. But I don't know.

“I’m Driving.” Sam in Wendigo

At the end of the Pilot, Sam chose to rejoin his brother (and by implication, John) in the life of a hunter. These men are his family; given what Sam has lost, it ought to be comforting. But I think the big theme for Sam in this episode is not his bond with his family, but his solitude.
