Snow is falling...

I know those of you in countries where you get a lot of snow must find it hilarious how unprepared we Brits are for this kind of weather. But snow in November? It's just not supposed to happen here.

Here in Newport we had a little snow last week. It was enough to turn pavements into ice rinks and make my walk to work a little hazardous, but not bad compared to much of the country. Although across the street the neighbour's kids did manage to gather up enough to make a snowman, which is kinda cute.

This morning - it's still dark out, but I'm about to leave for work - it's snowing again. Not much, so far, not even a centimetre is my guess, but it's still falling so who knows what it'll be like later in the day. More to the point, I have no idea what it's like in the surrounding areas: it can be a light snowfall here, and as little as two miles away much heavier. So work is likely to be chaotic today, with some folks staying home because schools are closed and others showing up but leaving again because they're worried they won't be able to get home if they stay.

To all my UK friends: wrap up warm and stay safe! (Those snowballs can be nasty!)
