Good things

I've played with web analytics for fun for years. And that's what I'm spending this week being paid to do. This is a day to love my job. The intranet stats haven't been run properly for years. I could try to fill in all the missing years - the logs are there, they just haven't been collated. That would be a lot of fun. But for now I'm just doing 2012 :)

My knee is a lot better. I returned to the gym today and managed a complete circuit. Squat and leg curl were tough and by the end of the half hour I was hurting, but oh-I-feel-that hurt not omg-stop-now hurt.

I made carrot cake last week. I followed my usual recipe but with a couple of tweaks. First I sliced the cake in two and used most of what is usually the topping to make it a sandwich cake. Then I made this crunchy pecan thing I'd seen on the Good Food channel. It was so easy to make and totally delicious! (100g chopped pecans, 75g caster sugar, 1 teaspoon your favourite spice - I used mixed spice with a little nutmeg and ginger added. Put it all in a frying pan and turn the heat on high. Stir until the sugar turns to caramel then turn out into a greased plate or pan. When cool, break it up by hand. Amazing!)

My Sentinel Cyberpunk AU is at 5,500 words, with a little more to go before I've finished the first chapter. I have an idea for an AI character but I don't know if I can pull it off. It's a bit out there. The other thing that's becoming clear is this story is going to be heavy on the warnings. I'm only on chapter 1 and it's dark stuff. And I'm still not sure where it's going next. It's good to be writing Sentinel again.
