Yes. No matter how much anger there is between them - and I think there's a lot, on all sides - neither Dean nor John is going to let Sam face danger alone. (And I don't think it would occur to either of them that he might not face it if they won't help.)

I especially loved the last part, the interaction of the boys after two years. It worked very well for me.
