Icon meme
I am better, but still not well. Here's a meme to pass the time...
1.Reply to this post, and I will pick four of your icons. I'll do this for whoever wants to respond.
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon squee!
I've deleted most of my icons from LJ but
admiralandrea picked four of my icons from my Journalfen account:
Ah, my beloved Sentinel. This is one of my oldest icons and I still love it. And the show it represents. TS fandom weirds me out; I've encountered fanon in all fandoms but only in TS will you find folks so in love with fanon that you can barely recognise the TV show in most of the popular fanfic. The icon: really simple, just a promo shot from the show with some text added.
This is Emma from Mutant X. Though I still haven't seen the third season MX is one of my guilty pleasures: the show is terribly shallow, the "science" preposterous, the plots terrible...but look at the pretty! I had a total crush on Shalimar (as in, if I weren't already gay, I would for her!), but Emma was the character I identified with. The cap is from (I think) Lazarus Syndrome and the background is a cap from one of Emma's visions. Mucked about in Photoshop to give it that washed-out look.
One of the few icons I didn't make myself, this is by the lovely
lanning. She was one of the first people to friend me on LJ, though we're no longer LJ friends (just drifted apart, I think), and she started her "Zen Fen" series of icons not long after I first got this journal. I loved them all! But this one in particular with its lonely moon over the water (you guys know about my water fetish, right?) was perfect for me.
Now, this one I really did make myself; as in, the base image is not a photo, it's my artwork. I made it for an art contest five or so years back, the challenge was to create a fantasy avatar to represent myself. The full sized image is an android woman with parts of her skin peeling away to reveal the circuitry beneath. I wasn't at all happy with the pic and ended up submitting something completely different to the contest, but when I started making icons for my LJ this was my first default icon because the image remains, in my own mind, my avatar, even though my talent was unequal to the thought. Today it's the icon I use to post in feminist discussions.
Comment if you want to know about any of my other icons or if you want me to ask you about yours!
