Well, the story is in Dean's POV. And there aren't many fifteen year old boys who would concede that they're too young to understand what consenting to sex means.

As for it varying from place to place, well, there might be cases where it is complicated, but since SPN is set in the current US, is an US show and probably has a large US audience, why wouldn't one pick US standard?

One might. But in terms of warnings on fic, I think most readers tend to apply the standard they are familiar with, even if they know the culture is different within a fictional setting.

I was under the impression that laws pertaining to sex differed from state to state in the US. Am I wrong? I'm not American and haven't researched it or anything but that was my impression from US-made TV and novels.
