I read this book not long ago (a friend told me about it and yeah it was a "childrens" book but I read it anyway) and it made me cry so much. It was also a case of I'm glad I did, but I wouldn't read it again. It too assumed that the reader knew about the history (like the name of the place they move to in his mind is called "outwith" which is his mis-pronunciation of Auschwitz) The ending of the book may be less obvious than the movie ending (it becomes apparent what has happened but I wonder whether the movie shows more than the book describes..?)

I'm pretty sure that the movie, even though it's a 12, will be even worse... But I think I might have to go and see it, because I feel I ought to see it at least once.
