Posting from my shiny new PC

My new laptop is here, set up and working! Oh, I am not liking Vista at all. But it's only been an hour or so...I'll figure out how to get rid of the annoying features and hopefully the rest will grow on me.

Her name is Sydney (as in Bristow, as in Alias). I will post pics soon because she's kick-ass and sexy in spite of the evil overlord that is Vista.

I have a built-in webcam! No idea if that'll ever be used but it might be fun for recording drunken con reports :-) I uninstalled all the crap that came pre-installed (they had the nerve to install an e-bay icon!) and have downloaded my usual anti-virus, firewall and Open Office to replace MS. Now I need to get my art software on board and iTunes.

I still need a web editor to replace FrontPage.

And as cool as it is playing with my new toy, I must get some writing done tonight, too.

Try Bluefish (http://bluefish.openoffice.nl/)? I THINK it's available for Windows and it's pretty on par with Dreamweaver. :-D Or there's Kompozer (http://kompozer.sourceforge.net/download.php), which is more similar to Frontpage. *g* Probably more Windows friendly, too. ;-)

Whoohoo - shiny!

Vista isn't too bad once you turn off the whole "do you really want to do that?"... "are you sure?"... "really sure?"... "rape!!!" thing it has going on, because that's amazingly annoying. Have fun!

Yeah, that sure is annoying. And I'll bet it doesn't work, either. I mean, it's obviously intended to stop stealth installers, which is good, but I bet the bad guys at Sony who write 'em have probably already come up with a way to turn that warning off as the nasty stuff installs itself.

So pointless...

I still hate it on my laptop and I've had it almost a year now. But maybe you can make it work the way you want better than I. I'm admittedly not the most comp savvy person around. lol
