What holiday?

Life has felt pretty overwhelming just lately. My own health issues aside (nothing serious, just niggling stuff I wish would go away), work has been frustrating, family has been...unmentionable, and I can't find my DVD of Pirates of the Carribean - that last being my usual last-ditch attempt to cheer myself up before I get out the Ally McBeal and wallow in misery.

I was supposed to get a weekend of freedom over the holiday - all but me were going to visit the godparents (who I don't visit because if George spouts his usual homophobia in my presence one more time I'm gonna break his head). But sis had an accident: she slipped on the stairs and has damaged the base of her spine (she's gonna be fine, it's just painful). It meant she couldn't sit down or (obviously) drive. I guess it sounds selfish that I'm pissed I didn't get my weekend alone...but damn it, I am! Just one night when I could not worry about the Useless Boyfriend stealing my food, or get up and whatever hour I like and watch TV. One night to eat when I want to and not have to microwave something in the 5 minutes between sis cooking and Mum cooking. One night to actually sleep. There was no downside to this plan and she had to spoil it. Yeah. I'm a selfish bitch.

Writing has been slower than I like, too. Not impossible, but slow. I finished my two Big Bang fics and am working on the edits. The Exiles for [livejournal.com profile] sncross_bigbang (SPN/Angel, gen...or het UST if you swing that way) is all but finished - just a few last tweaks and a search for stray typos that the spellcheck can't catch. Reap The Whirlwind for [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_bigbang (SPN het fic set in my Dreamwalker AU 'verse) needs a lot more work, but I've done my first go-round and covered the pages with red ink. It's happening. I was hoping to get a short TS fic finished this week, but that's back on the back-burner for now.

My day is totally made, however, by two lovely LOC's. It's amazing how much a completely random piece of feedback can lift my mood. Don't get me wrong - comments are great when I first post a fic, but if someone comments long after I've posted, it's something else. Especially when they have such nice things to say :-)

Oh, and that Dreamwidth thing, since everyone but me seems to be there now. If anyone wants to chuck an invite code my way, I'll grab it with both hands and send you virtual cookies! But I'm not in a hurry and I am planning to get a paid account when they go on sale anyhow. I'm sure I'll find you all :-)

Ugh. No, I'd be miffed if I lost my time alone too. It's necessary for sanity's sake.

It really is.

*sigh*

Ack-- I just found your Pirates DVD in my bag. Are you in Cardiff this weekend? I'm so sorry-- I could've sworn I gave it back to you!

Oh! I'd completely forgotten you have it! Man...do you know how long I spent searching for that???

I'll be in Cardiff. I just checked the cinema schedule and I don't think there's anything I really want to see, but I need to do some shopping anyhow.

Cool-- just drop me a line when you know what time you'll be in. AFAIK I'm free all day. :)
