Tech Q

Can anyone recommend a (windows) program for getting screencaps from .avi files?

I've always done my capping from DVDs and the program I use for that won't play .avis. I have been googling, but I'm not finding much useful information. I'd rather have a rec from someone who's used it anyway.

Anyone?

I'll add my two cents to the VLC player thing. It may take a little getting used to, if you use something else a lot, but it definitely is my preferred method now. The only thing I don't like is that there's no rewind button, and it can sometimes be tough to cap something specific. If it goes by quick, you have to be quick on the pause button (space bar works to pause it :D).

But yes, VLC Player works great. :D
