Phoenix-verse
So, posting-wise I’m on chapter 3 of 8 in Resurrections. But today I completed the first draft. Lots of work still to do on that one, but alongside the edits I can get on with the next stories.
There are at least two more stories in this ‘verse that I want to tell. The second one is clear in my mind, but the first is a toughie. I have the first chapter written, but after that chapter it could go in several different directions and I don’t know, yet, which way it’s going to go.
There are three possibilities. The first option is too much like a replay of the end of Phoenix, Daniel missing, people searching for him. Don’t really want to do that again although not doing it might mean keeping the focus of this story on just Daniel and not involving the other characters much. The second option is really, really dark and I think it fundamentally changes things for Daniel. Given that I have another story to tell, I’m not sure that is a good choice. But option three feels too easy. Like it’s a cop-out.
So. Right now, I don’t know. This isn’t something I can “decide”. At some point my subconscious will work through it and tell me which way the story needs to go. In the meantime, I’ve got edits to do.
