For UK folks

To all my UK friends with cable/sky TV - Flash Gordon premiers on Sci-Fi tonight.

For me, Flash will forever be that cheesy 80's movie with the Queen soundtrack, but this series isn't bad at all. It's an interesting updating of the story, with some serious underlying theme in a show that never takes itself too seriously. The first few episodes are...well, typical of the early episodes of most good sci-fi shows, but by mid-season the show really took off. And it had a real ending to the season, so if it doesn't get renewed (no word on that, so far as I know) you're not left with a cliffhanger. Check it out!

Episode one is online for free:

Ah yes, the 80s movie - Peter Duncan, Brian Blessed, Aris Boch. Er, sorry, Sam J Jones *g* And the coolest soundtrack *ever* apart from the one they did for Highlander the movie of course ;-)

"Flash, Flash, I love you, but we only have 14 hours to save the Earth!"

"Gordon's alive!"

"Flash, Flash, I love you, but we only have 14 hours to save the Earth!"

LOL! Yes, that line makes me laugh and cringe every time. Nothing that cool in the series, but I still recommend it.

It cracks me up because you hear that line on the soundtrack!

Sadly, I don't have cable or Sky, so won't get to see it :-(

Thrice cursed lack of digital...I'm currently reduced to the tragic state of having 4 and a half (Channel 5 depends on whether the local crow is sitting on the arial) channels.

I must admit I've not heard anything too enthusiastic about this series, but I think my curiosity bone is going to insist on me at least checking out the pilot episode so a big thanks for the link :)

I feel for you, hon. My reception sucks for most normal channels, too. I'm lucky we've got cable.
