Soundbites
My cold or virus or whatever it was seems to be clearing up. I'm still drowning in honey-and-lemon, but the cough isn't keeping me from sleeping any more. Hopefully it won't make me too unpopular at the cinema tomorrow (and darn I didn't post my review of Spiderwick yet!).
I have yet to pick a movie for tomorrow but I've got to go into Cardiff regardless: I have this event I'm supposed to attend at Cardiff Uni on Monday evening and I need to wander around and figure out where the hell I'm going. Googlemaps is helpful, but I'll feel better when I've looked at the building with my own two eyes.
Word count on Never Say Die is 52,000. Phew! But the really good news is I have my outline finished right up to the end. Now I just need to write really, really fast and get the first draft done asap.
Amber gave us a canine emergency yesterday. John took the little dogs - Amber and Poppy - for a walk and about half an hour later Amber came home. Alone. You guys will remember she's the puppy we got last summer - she's not even a year old yet and she's never been allowed out on her own. So I'm really impressed she found her way back. She found our door but didn't know how to get in. She just kept running up and down outside the door until Mum noticed her. No idea how long she was out there. She wasn't trailing her lead so we figured she'd run away from John for some reason. We also knew John wouldn't come home without her. But where he'd gone...it's kind of the local common and it's big. I headed over there to find him, left Amber with Mum.
I did find John in the end, with Poppy. Poppy was so happy to see me I think something scared the crap out of her. I don't mean John. Maybe it was just because Amber was missing. Or maybe it was whatever made Amber run away. We still don't know what that was. John says she just scampered around a corner and when he caught up she was gone. She hurt her back paw - whether something attacked her or she hurt it running home we don't know. One big mystery...but it all ended well, so no harm.
And Jared cancelled Asylum con. Cue fandom meltdown, apparently. Seriously, guys, who didn't see that coming? Sure it would be nice if he put a convention ahead of his movie career but he'd be an idiot if he did. Deal with it.

BINGO.

I'm so impressed she could find home. And so relieved she made it - there's at least one busy road she had to cross to get here.
BINGO.
*nods* I'm pissed at Rogue Events - not because of the cancellation because I figured that would happen when I bought my ticked. But because they should have anticipated it. They just sold an extra 200 tickets, meaning there could be 1200 people at this con. There were 800 at the last one and the organisation sucked big time. They'll never be able to cope with a crowd that big and now Jared's not coming they've got people trying to cancel, and giving them grief when they refuse. But if they weren't so damn greedy they would have had a waiting list of people looking for ticket cancellations and could have accommodated at least some of those cancellations.

Now that I am retired I get to start catching up on all the movies I missed out on! I joined Netflix and then once the weather gets better I want to start getting to the real cinema!
*sigh*
I have "Becoming Jane" and "the Queen" coming. And seeing your name - I want to go put "Atonement" in my queue! This is going to be wonderful!!!

The Queen just makes me angry. I'm a republican so I guess that was predictable.

It's the Glamorgan Building on Cathays. I have a map: I'm gonna see if I can find it today and then I'll be all set :-)
If I have any trouble I'll let you know - thanks!
Unless you fancy coming along? It's an open talk: something about gay people in sport. All the info is on my desk in work but I think it's 6.15

yeah, that sounds good-- I haven't taken in a lecture in awhile. I'll met you in front of the building at about 6 pm monday?

Sounds great, but let me confirm on Monday, just in case I've got the time wrong or something.
