It's cold...this is news?

In the Independent this morning, there's an article essentially telling us it's cold in the UK. I'm a bit baffled by the notion that this is news. But near the end of the article, I found this gem:
At Banham Zoo in Norfolk, keepers were trying to encourage a pair of Siberian tiger cubs to leave their covered pen. The animals can survive in temperatures as low as -40C but the 11-week-old cubs have baulked at -4C.

Doesn't that just make ya go "Aw, so cute!"???

Isn't it, though? I have this mental image of the keepers trying everything from a ball of wool to I don't know what to coax the cubs out, and the cubs shivering at the back No siree, we're stayin' put!

*g*

I suppose if being cold (in England? In January? Who'd have thunk it) is the best news they can come up with, at least nothing terrible is happening.

But aw....that is very sweet.

(Oh, and now having watched Demons, I entirely agree with your assessment of Mina. She's looking to be a good female character, hot *shallow*, and can hold her own without being over the top. TV rarely gets that right. I shall definitely be watching next week anyhow).

If only that were true....

Yeah, I'm planning to watch Demons again; my trouble is I'm always forgetting TV times. I'm too used to downloads and DVDs!

Huh. That link doesn't seem to work for me! But yeah, definitely typical cats!

I think they're making a big deal about the weather because it has been so cold for so long and it's colder than is usual for this time of year, bucking the recent trends.
