Tired...

It's results week at work so my brain's an empty sack right now...and I'm still not done. Running quarterly results is always a pain, but this quarter is especially bad. The response to the survey has been awful - understandable, as in the current economic climate most company accountants have more important things to do than fill in pesky government forms. It means the quality of the data I'm working with is, well, crap. So I'm having to explain changes and movements in the figures which are probably not even for real.

Today I was the most senior person in work as all the important people were at this big conference in the London office.

It just means I'm knackered and it's not even Friday yet :-)

I caved and have bought myself a new laptop. Or, strictly speaking I've ordered it; I haven't paid for it until they send me the credit agreement. I was planning to buy a cheap netbook so I could take a PC on holidays and trips and still be able to buy a new desktop when this one finally dies. However, I am becoming more convinced that my trusty PC is already in its death throes. I just can't keep up with the bits and pieces that keep breaking. I'm down to just two working USB slots, a DVD drive that works perfectly except the PC won't admit it's there... The real problem is I can't do any artwork because I can't use my external hard drives. And that's driving me potty.

Anyhow, it doesn't look good for Old Faithful. So I have bought a good laptop, on the theory that it'll do both jobs. As long as I can get my Wacom tablet to work with it I'll be happy. Of course, it'll come with Vista instead of XP, damn it. You can't have everything, I guess. I'd switch to Linux in a heartbeat but there's no Linux version of Poser yet and I can't live without Poser.

I'm going to have a nice late lie-in on Saturday, watch SPN in bed then spend the day writing.

Now that's something to look forward to!

The new laptop sound lush... and if it's any comfort, I've (grudgingly and snarling) come to accept Vista in my life, and I held out against it for the longest time. We don't like each other, but I no longer want to throttle it every five minutes. Fingers crossed you'll be the same. *g*

Yeah, fingers crossed. Hell, I held onto Win95 for ever. I'm in the "it's not broke, so don't fix it" place with Windows: 3.1 was perfectly adequate to me!

which did you decide on? (she types on her laptop that disconnects the ether cable every time she moves)

As for graphics, cropping pics to icons *points up* is as challanging as I get. (she says mostly to excuse the use of her new icon)

It's a Dell Studio 15.

And I like the new icon :-)
