Why am I still surprised by the depths to which LJ will sink?

So at best, LJ was sending links through a third party with possibly the idea of claiming affiliate link status to links that didn't already have it, and never thought to check how and whether the code worked as promised. Which it obviously didn't. Greedy, stupid and shoddy. I'm going to sleep on it, but I think this is the last straw for my full participation in LJ. Keep the LJ, sure, it's a regrettable necessity, but no more of my own content is going on their servers.

I've promised myself that in the past but damn it, most of my friends are on LJ and not here.

And communities is the big thing - there just isn't the level of participation on Dreamwidth. Here's hoping that will change.

Certainly as soon as Dreamwidth implement the ability to read my LJ flist here - and assuming I can get my filters working with it - I won't be reading over there any more.

Yeah, I know. The community of friends keeps me there despite growing disgust with LJ's management, and they know that too, the bastards. They count on that sort of inertia, I think. Ah well, time for a bit of cutting off my nose to spite my face... If people like me that much they can read me on DW. And if they don't, I'm sure I can find a few little jobs to do in RL rather than answering my zillion comments. *g*

And compromise is in some circumstances so definitely the road to hell. I have compromised on my flounce, since I have no illusions about the likelihood of the lj flist doing a 'whither thou goest'...
