I've gotten out of the habit of commenting on new SPN episodes, but three questions/observations...

Did Dean just murder an innocent creature for personal gain? 'Cause it sure looked like it.

Castiel - the parallel with Sam in season four is about as subtle as a brick, no?

Are the fans getting royalties for this season? I don't think there's been a single episode that wasn't based on fanfic. In some cases, a specific fanfic.

I've been re-watching season one this week and remembering why I fell so hard in love with everything about the Winchesters. What have they done to my show???

I haven't watched it yet; it's on my DVR and waiting for my morning getting-ready-for-school routine on Tuesday. I get a lot more from shows if my computer isn't in my lap while I watch.

But the frustration in your question is why I can wait that long to watch it; SPN isn't the show we fell in love with. I have Seasons 1 & 2 on DVD, and am considering Season 3. (I don't remember when they headed into 'darkness' and 'arc stories'.) But after that, no, even though I'm a completist; I like to have all of a series, just because. But in this case, I'll save my money.

It's actually a good episode (at least compared to most of this season). I never had a problem with 'dark' and story arcs suit me, but what I haven't enjoyed is what they've done to Sam and Dean. They started out as heroes; flawed, but still. Now it's like - if they're the good guys, the world was better off with the demons.
