Feb. 18th, 2008 06:42 pmSis got engaged. Um...on Friday I think. I am finding it difficult to be excited about this. Don't get me wrong, I wish her every happiness. But I don't understand what she wants with this guy. About the only good thing I can say about him is he's an improvement on the abusive bastard she lived with before.
The BBC is reporting that the HDDVD/BluRay war may be over. I sure hope so, though I'm very torn on the result. Blu Ray is, as far as I've been able to find out, the better technology, but I really, really really didn't want Sony to win. It'll be a cold day in Hell before I forgive Sony for deliberately putting a computer virus on their music CDs. But if the BBC is correct, then hopefully next year (when I've finished paying for my super new TV) I can get a good high-def DVD player.
I am almost at the 10,000 word mark on Never Say Die. That's two chapters, plus a prologue which I may put into a later chapter as a flashback. It's an important scene, but I think maybe it gives away too much information for a prologue. Darn it; I like stories in chronological order. The next chapter includes the first real sex scene...so I need to decide now what rating I want on this fic. Anyone want to vote?
Alias is good for my SPN muse. I think maybe it's because both have a strong family theme.
Also need to chase my beta for my Sweet Charity fic. She's been sick, I know, but I want to get the story finished...
I spent the day wrestling with Excel, trying to figure out Phil's magic spreadsheets. Phil is the guy who did my job before me. Or, technically, he would have been my manager, but he did what I now do. Anyhow, he had all these statistical reports set up for import into Excel spreadsheets and complicated conditional formulae to do stuff with the raw data. Trouble is, his reports don't include enough information for the analysis I'm being asked for. So I figured I could enhance his work and set up new reports. Apparently, I was being too ambitious. I can reproduce his reports. I can even figure out how they work but I can't get them to work with the enhanced data.
For the record: I hate Excel. Except when it works for me.
