Feb. 27th, 2009 07:11 amGorgeous sunrise this morning. I was awake way too early as my brain apparently decided it was a Supernatural day (sniff!). Anyhow, the sunrise.
It looked like there was quite thick cloud on the horizon, where I'd normally see haze on a warm day was grey, almost black. Above this, just where the sun was peeking out, was this slash of blood-red, like a ribbon right across the sky. It was actually darkest around the sun, and lighter toward the edges of my vision so it was as if the sun was absorbing the light instead of providing it. Then above that, there was more thick grey cloud, which seemed to get thinner the closer it became to overhead, until right above me I could still see some stars.
If I were making a horror movie set in my town, that's the shot I'd put on the poster, because it looked as if the sky had been slashed open and was bleeding over the industrial area and docks. It only lasted a few minutes; as these things do. Wish I'd thought to photograph it with more than just my mind.

Three movies I want to see are out this week: Franklyn, The International and The Unborn. Franklyn is top of my list, but it's also the most awkward on the movie timetable. I've written loads this week so I might reward myself with two movies. We'll see...
