Dec. 20th, 2010 04:55 pmApparently our neighbours were planning to have Christmas dinner in the garden this year. This would make sense if we were in Australia. Unfortunately...
( Pic under the cut )
In all seriousness, though, the snow is getting pretty bad. My office closed at midday, and they never close the office if they can help it. I was determined to stay until they did, or until I'd done my full day's work, but I was walking: no matter how deep the snow gets, I know I can still make it home. Others in my workplace aren't so lucky.
Sis's office closed about the same time as mine, but she'd already seen the traffic reports and left. She got stuck anyway and eventually made it home about 3.30, having been forced to abandon her car and walk. The Useless Fiance had similar trouble but he was coming from a different direction. He got his car as far as his dad's place and left it there, and finally walked through the door a few minutes ago. So we're all safe, if a little chilled.
No post, once again. Not really surprised about that. The good news, is the people showed up with new glass for our cooker before the snow got really bad. So we now have a working oven and can expect to be able to cook Christmas dinner. Though this is dependent on Tesco having some Turkey left when Sis decides it's time to go shopping! All the major roads around Newport are either gridlocked or closed, according to the travel news. I sure hope my work colleagues made it home safely.
If the office is open tomorrow, I'm going to work. It's not that I particularly enjoy being there, it's just that I'm stubborn. The office is easy walking distance on a good day, challenging walking distance in these conditions but far from inaccessible to me. I'm not going to give them any excuse to not pay me!
But that's tomorrow. Today, I have a fic to finish :)
