briarwood: My dog Poppy (Poppy)
This is my last night of house-sitting. It's been a pricey break: bus fares between here and work are extortionate and it's not walk-able. But it's been lovely. I like this house. Everything I need (except my workplace) is within walking distance, it's very quiet and the view from the bedroom is amazing.

But I'm ready to go home. I miss the dogs :)

On the plus side, being here has let me concentrate on writing and my summergen story is now on its second draft. (My fics go through four main drafts: first draft is longhand; second is typed on the computer; third is for story revisions and fourth is beta.) I was halfway through the fic when I realised it would be better to have Ellen do the parts I'd written as Bobby, so I need to go back and re-write several scenes. I also know I got a couple of character voices badly wrong; the perils of writing characters I haven't seen onscreen for a while, so I'll need to fix that. But I'll be able to do that before the deadline.

Technically, no one will know if I miss the deadline except me: I'm the mod. But that's why I'm all the more determined to have my story done on time. The mod is not allowed to 'cheat'.

When I'm done, I can go back to the WiP pile. I post my spn_J2_bigbang on the 6th. That's all ready to go: I just have to do the actual posting. Although, despite saying my BB was all done and dusted, I'm itching to go back and do one last round of revisions. My head is skipping ahead to the third part of the trilogy and yesterday I suddenly realised how they're going to [spoiler redacted]. Inspiration is great, but now I want to change the finished story so I can drop in just a little hint of how it will ultimately be resolved. I can never quit tinkering!
