Today I saw a post in one of my communities all about the misogyny in Supernatural fandom. I wish I could say this is the first time I've seen a post like that. It's not even the tenth.
What's really sad is that in a female-dominated fandom, feminst fen have to go to communities outside the fandom in order to make posts about the problematic aspects of the show without being shouted down or even told they're "imagining it".
Any attempt to discuss Supernatural from a feminist or woman-postive viewpoint seems to be, to say the least, unpopular in SPN fandom. I'm a huge fan of the show; if you read my LJ, you know that, but that doesn't mean I can't have issues with the way the show treats female characters. It doesn't mean I enjoy the male characters throwing around terms like "bitch", "skank" and "slut". I love Supernatural: that's why the casual misogyny in the show hurts so much.
So feminist fans of the show can have at least one place to gather and discuss these things and others, I've created

I thought about doing this in early summer when the hatred of feminist discussion really exploded; I thought someone would beat me to it, but if they did, I haven't seen it. Please join. You don't have to be a feminist, just a SPN fan who can respect the feminist viewpoint.
