Another wasted weekend, as far as the writing is concerned.

Oh, I did write. A bit more on this Sentinel fic, which is slowly coming into focus. I'll never meet the challenge deadline, but I have hopes it'll be done before Christmas.

Then for some reason on Sunday I started a Dean/Bobby fic. I'll probably never post it: the characterisation, especially of Dean, is dreadful. But my brain was coming up with words, so I wrote them down. Maybe it'll turn out that Dean's been cursed to act that way, I dunno. More likely I'll never even finish it.

Positives. Come on.

Okay. Saturday I had chai latte with [livejournal.com profile] thanatos_kalos which was fun (hope your cold's better, sweetie), and I saw two movies.

The first was Nights in Rodanthe which is...well, I enjoyed it, but it's not particularly special. It's weekday afternoon movie. Nice to see a romantic film that's not about teenagers and babies. Nice to see Diane Lane in anything (I have had a major crush on her since Under The Tuscan Sun), but it's not winning any oscars.

My second movie was Mirrors. I'm aware that it's a remake of some Japanese horror. These tend to be either brilliant or just plain weird. Also, this particular film got a 15 cert, which is often a bad sign for horror movies. Mirrors is probably the least scary horror film I've ever seen. Seriously, even Disney's Watcher In The Woods is scarier. Part of the problem is Keifer Sutherland: I think he's been doing 24 so long he can't play any other role. In this film he's supposed to be this guy who's strung out on some unspecified prescription meds, apparently losing his mind...but he still delivers his lines like he's Jack Bauer. It doesn't really work. There are a couple of "made you jump" moments [And I swear SPN has ruined me for horror movies: when the guy said you have to use fire I almost said out loud that you need salt, too], but it's not really scary at all...until the very, very end which creeped me the hell out!

With luck, my copy of Poltergeist will arrive today; if it doesn't maybe I'll dig out The Exorcist. I am feeling a desperate need for a horror movie that's actually scary. ETA: Yay! I have Poltergeist!!!
