Meeting goals
Jul. 16th, 2012 06:32 pmI had to go back and examine last year's posts to work it out, but this time last year I was still hobbling around with a walking stick. I had recovered from my sprained ankle (for which I will forever blame William and Kate, since it happened the day after their wedding) sufficiently to ditch the crutches, but I still needed the stick and had to take stairs one step at a time.
Which makes it all the more amazing to me that two days ago I completed the 10K Race for Life in Cardiff. My time was just under 1 hour 30 minutes. I did not run. Well, I did a little; not enough to boast about.
Three weeks ago, more or less, I took a fall and twisted my knee. For a while there I was sure I was out of the race. But I felt well enough, wore a support bandage just in case and the knee didn't bother me. The weather was horrible, but not as bad as it has been lately.
Because of that knee injury, I didn't post asking for sponsors before the race; it didn't seem right when I wasn't sure I'd be able to complete it. And I'm not gonna make a huge deal of it now. But this is my online page, if you want to donate to a good cause:

The page says I raised zero: that's not true, but none of it was online. I think I'm at about £200. Next year I plan to stay injury free and make a better effort!
